What are the treatment for Heart Disease

Things that you and your health care professional can do for heart disease can be all over the map, from CPR, to high-tech surgeries, to caregiving. Chances are that you, or someone you love, may need different types.



  • Lifestyle changes

  • Stop smoking

  • Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and foods with a lot of fiber

  • Avoid foods high in sugar

  • Exercise regularly

  • Gain or Maintain a healthy weight

  • Medications

  • Maintain low cholesterol and Blood pressure



Surgery may also be the solution with

  • Stenting wich is a small mesh tube that holds open passages in the body. Stents are often used to treat narrowed coronary arteries that supply the heart with oxygen-rich blood. The stent holds open the narrowed arteries to allow adequate blood to flow to the heart.

  • Bypass surgery (also called coronary artery bypass grafting or CABG)

  • Implanting a device such as

    • Implantable a cardioverter defibrillator (ICD)

    • Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT)

    • Left ventricular assist device (LVAD)

  • Heart transplantation

  • Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI, or angioplasty)

  • Coronary artery bypass
