WELLNEX organizes a talk in partnership with Doctor Errol Chan from LSE Eye Clinic on cataract treatment and how to achieve Spectacle-Freedom and Better Vision!
Next Thursday 28 of April from 12h30 to 13h15 on video conference!
What is a Cataract? A cataract is an eye condition where the natural lens of the eye becomes cloudy, limiting light entering the eye and causing blurry vision. It is the commonest age-related eye condition amongst middle-aged persons and seniors in Singapore.
Dr Errol Chan is an ophthalmologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. His specialty is in cataract surgery, the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases, and uveitis, a form of eye inflammation.
Dr Errol Chan will discuss the symptoms of cataract, and how recent technological advances of modern cataract surgery allows it to be a safe and effective treatment for cataracts. In the last 5 years, the development of advanced lens implant technology mean that all forms of refractive error (i.e., short-sight, far-sight, "lao hua", and astigmatism) can be corrected for, allowing patients to reduce their requirement on distance and/or reading glasses in order to see well. Current lens implants also allow for sharper vision.
Cataract surgery can be customized to suit each individual's occupational and lifestyle needs, enabling patients to improve their vision and quality of life according to their choices. In addition, sophisticated pre-surgical assessment devices, and computer-assisted surgical planning, allow for much better customization and precision in surgery.
With these advances, patients do not necessarily need to wait until their cataracts are very severe and vision much reduced before having cataract surgery and enjoying good vision after.
So join the session to discover how you can treat your eye differently with the support of new technology.
